Member Rights with AMNSIS

Association of Metis, Non and Status Indians Saskatchewan, (AMNSIS) is an Indigenous organization in Saskatchewan that represents the whole family in the tradition of kinship.

We recognize the divisions created by colonial systems that affect immediate family members giving them different "status". We welcome and represent the whole family unit, and as Indigenous people understand the diverse kinship ties.

AMNSIS citizens are individual Indigenous inherent and sovereign rights holders and recognized under Section 35 of the Canadian Constitution. Members rights remain with them and their community where they legally are supposed to be. We support our communities and individuals to maintain their inherent and sovereign rights.

AMNSIS’ mandate is it to ensure inclusion and representation at/with; governments, organizations, institutions, industry, health, housing, education, justice, economic development, land, environment, natural resources, knowledge keepers, youth, and women.

AMNSIS is currently working with the Federal Government of Canada in several areas. We are also developing relationships with  provincial and municipal levels of government to ensure issues affecting Indigenous people in affected areas have representation.
